Spring is here and summer around the corner so take a few minutes and go over the safety rules in your house! - When riding, bikes, skate boards, scooters or roller blading be sure to wear the proper safety gear such as helmets and elbow and knee pads.
- Always tell your parents where you are going and be sure you have a playground buddy. You and your buddy stay together.
- Playing outside takes a lot of energy, be sure to drink lots of water and rest in the shade to cool off every so often.
- Obey all the traffic rules. Ride with the traffic and always single file.
- It is always best to wear bright colors so you are easily seen.
- Playing with matches and fireworks is dangerous so just don't do it!
- Be sure you don't chew gum or eat anything while you are swimming.
- Know how to make a 911 emergency call from a pay phone.
Parents can get lots of tips, including information on Child ID Kits, Do It Yourself DNA Sampling Kits and basic information about international travel from The KlaasKids Foundation: www.klaaskids.org/ under their Child safety section. A couple of fun interactive sites for kids: ● Our favorite Crime Dog McGruff can be found at www.mcgruff.org/ ● The US Consumer Product Safety Commission also has a great site for kids at www.cpsc.gov/kids/kidsafety/
